Garbage Disposal Repair & Replacement
Jammed, humming, leaking, or dead? We'll get it running again.
A good garbage disposal keeps your kitchen sink running freely — until it jams, leaks, or quits. Because disposals are both mechanical and electrical, a few different things can go wrong over their lifetime.
L.E. Isley & Sons repairs and replaces garbage disposals across Northern Indianapolis. We're trained and equipped to fix the problem safely — and we'll always tell you honestly whether a repair or a replacement is the better value.

What We Do
Our garbage disposal services
Repair
Resetting tripped units, freeing jams, fixing leaks, and sharpening or replacing worn blades.
Replacement
When the motor has failed, we install a reliable new unit — usually more cost-effective than a motor swap.
New installation
Adding a disposal where there isn't one, wired and plumbed correctly for safe, quiet operation.
Electrical troubleshooting
Diagnosing breaker trips and circuit issues — sometimes the fix is a dedicated circuit, not the disposal itself.
Know the Signs
3 signs you need disposal service
Strange sounds
Odd noises usually mean a jam or a part that's wearing out. Keep using it and you risk a bigger failure.
Constant resetting
If you're hitting the reset button regularly, there's an underlying problem that needs to be looked at, not reset away.
Leaking
A leaking disposal can cause more water damage than you'd expect. Check the drain connection, and if it continues, call us.
Persistent odors
Smells that won't clear, plus frequent clogs, often mean the unit isn't grinding or draining the way it should.
Compare
Repair vs. replace your disposal
| Repair | Replace | |
|---|---|---|
| Best when | Jam, leak, loose blades | Motor has failed |
| Cost | Lower | New unit + install |
| Lifespan after | Extends current unit | Fresh full lifespan |
Honest Pricing
What affects the cost
Disposal service is flat-rate and quoted up front. Often a quick repair; sometimes replacement is the better value. Factors:
Repair vs. replacement
Freeing a jam or fixing a leak costs less than a new unit; a failed motor usually means replacement is cheaper.
Unit quality
A higher-horsepower, quieter disposal costs more than a basic model — we'll match it to your kitchen.
Electrical issues
If the problem is a tripping breaker or wiring, a dedicated circuit may be needed.
New installation
Adding a disposal where there isn't one involves more than a like-for-like swap.

FAQ
Garbage Disposals — common questions
Often not. Many disposals just need the reset button pressed — it's usually on the bottom of the unit and trips when the motor overheats. If resetting doesn't work or you're doing it constantly, there's a deeper issue we can diagnose.
If the blades are loose or it's leaking, repair usually does the trick. If the motor has failed completely, replacement is typically cheaper than a new motor plus labor. We'll guide you to the most cost-effective choice.
Keep out coffee grounds, bones, grease, and hard or fibrous foods like celery, potato skins, pasta, and rice — they can jam blades or swell and clog the drain. Stick to soft scraps and run plenty of cold water.
